(*** ENGLISH, ITALIANO, FRANÇAIS, SIGN LANGUAGE LSE***)
¡Hola! ¿Qué tal? This is Cris, your future Spanish teacher ;)
Why do I know? Keep reading ;)
I have been teaching face-to-face and online Spanish, Italian, Sign language and English since 2014. (Ages 5 to 63) And I am still in touch with all my students (or their mums haha)
I can speak 5 languages, so I know how you feel and the challenges you face. Have you ever asked yourself what a foreign accent is? It is a sign of bravery [A. Chua]
So, CONGRATS. Not everyone wants to learn (different words and) other ways to think about things! You are curious!!! Big changes came from curious people. Marie Curie never liked simple answers ;) Congratulation again!
I have 3 different diplomas of Spanish teacher and also a degree in Preschool Education (I love kids, I’m so good at it, but honestly, I prefer to teach Spanish to adults). However my career helped me a lot to understand how brains work when children or adults learn a new language. Yeap, when we learn, we usually make the same mistakes as children do. "Se ha rompido" vs. "se ha roto"
Learning Spanish is not complicated, you just need a teacher who uses my magic formula. Because I can do MiRaCleS
M= My method is based in your MOTIVATIONS (that's why all my classes are different, because depend on each student and which their passions are). Are you into tennis? Ok, let's learn the past simple with a text and a video of Garbiñe Muguruza or Rafa Nadal.
RC= I like to focus on natural and REAL CONVERSATIONS you will use when you speak to ANY native.
I saw many students who had pretty good level and they couldn’t keep friendships because they knew the grammar rules but they never learnt cultural rules.
Once I heard a British guy asking: “Disculpe, ¿podría obtener una cerveza?” (“Excuse me, could I have a beer, please?”) Grammar, verbs, voc… excellent. Context and the way he asked? Awefull! The waitress looked at him like: man, what’s wrong with you, I’m not your boss.
And why? Because of Spanish! we can say “Ponme una cerve(za)” “Give me a be(er)”. Sometimes we don’t say even thank you, because it can be included in your voice tone or when you make the word shorter: cerve instead of cerveza.
And how are you going to learn that with me? Because...
3)S=You are going to SPEAK all the time in Spanish, I don’t speak almost anything in other languages. Even in the first lesson. You’ll see, it’s not necessary. I’ve lot of experience ;)
Of course, I’m going to ask you for some writing or some grammar exercises, but it is not going to steal more than 20% of our lesson.
Why do you speak, why do you talk? [think about it for a second, why… WHY?] Usually because you want to say what you think -your opinion- or what you feel -emotions-. Grammar it is not important, but communicate is. Express it in the right way and try to avoid misunderstandings. That’s a language.
And when you learn it? When you use it! So let’s speak!
WHAT ABOUT CRIS?
When I am not teaching, I have maaaany interests. I read (oh gosh, a looot). I love history, philosophy, art, theater, music, I write. I run and do yoga. I waste my time with friends… And of course:
I travel. I travel A LOT. I lived in 6 different countries so far!
And I learnt a lot of things. Especially from my students :D
I hope we can teach each other lots of things IN SPANISH
A language is other way to understand the world…
Watch the same things with other eye’s…
You will be at home anywhere!
A different language is a different vision of life
and Spanish is spoken in so many countries…
Why Spanish arrive never on time? do you want to discover how we think? Do you want to possess a second
LET’S START YOUR FIRST DAY OF THE NEW WORLD
Your previous teacher never taught you in this way. Believe me ;)
