Hi, my name is Anita. I am a native English speaker from the UK.
I am a TEFL tutor, meaning that I am internationally qualified to teach English. I have an additional qualification focusing on teaching techniques for one on one classes. These courses have given me a lot of ideas, activities, and a wide variety of resources to draw upon when planning lessons. I have a First class degree from the University of Nottingham in the UK. My degree is in Sociology, a writing based subject, graded on essays and spoken presentations. I received several awards for this degree including the University Prize for Academic Excellence.
Currently, I am living in Finland, attempting to learn the Finnish language - very tricky! Therefore, I understand from a students perspective how daunting it can be to learn a language. I am very friendly, patient, and will try to make lessons comfortable and enjoyable for students.
When I meet a new student I create an individual learning plan for them. The plan is based upon student aims, learning style, and interests. This then helps me to prepare each lesson, making sure that it contains suitable and interesting content, and that we are making good progress towards meeting the students personal goals.
I can help with:
- preparing for a job interview
- business English, for meetings etc
- preparing for an English language exam, for example IELTS
- practicing day to day conversations
I am happy to plan structured activities for us to work through together during lessons, or classes can be more relaxed and conversational. Homework is optional, and all levels and ages are welcome!
I have been working freelance online for several years, including tutoring, writing, and editing. I am now focusing on teaching English full-time. This means that I am very committed and reliable, and I will always be punctual and professional during lessons.
