Hello, I'm Lesley and I'm a British (London born) native English speaker and teacher. This means that I don't have a regional accent and speak what is known as 'received pronunciation' or 'the Queen's English' - [Google 'what is received pronunciation']. I speak clearly and am very easy to understand and the French students I teach in France (where I currently live) find my lessons suit them well because of this. I've had nearly 20 years' teaching experience in the UK, France and Sierra Leone. I've got a Bachelor of Arts degree in English & Applied Social Science, a University of Cambridge Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) and a Certificate in Education (Cert Ed. Post Compulsory Education). I'm highly motivated and genuinely love teaching and sharing my love of the English language and culture with others who are keen to learn. I've taught students at all levels from complete beginner to advanced. My lessons are relaxed, comfortable, and professional. I will encourage you to talk so that you will gain confidence from our lessons and be motivated to practise your English in public without fear (yes, in British English we use 'practise' with an 's' as a verb and 'practice' with a 'c' as a noun but in other countries where English is spoken this is not the case - Lesson no. 1!) . Whether it's conversational English you want or you'd like more grammar based knowledge I can adapt to suit your needs. I'm very easy going and flexible and I like to make my lessons fun and relaxed because I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable and stress-free.
Why not book a trial lesson?
During the trial lesson, we’ll find out a little about each other. We’ll talk about your needs and interests and any special vocabulary, reading or writing skills that you hope to achieve. This trial lesson will enable me to find out your level of proficiency now and what level you would like to achieve in the next three months. Lessons following on from a trial lesson will be personally tailored to your individual requirements as your learning journey is a unique experience just for you.
My areas of focus: Vocabulary enrichment, pronunciation, conversational English, idioms, business/professional English, writing skills, effective meetings, interviews and presentations and taking an advanced student to the next level. There will also be a good level of culture for you to learn about as I believe language and culture cannot be separated.
I hope I’ve shared enough information to help you decide if we might be a good match. If you have any questions before you make your decision, please send me a message.
