My name is Melanie, I`m 36 years old and I`m a primary and secondary school teacher from Germany. Currently I live in Bali, Indonesia, where I enjoy spending more time with my family.
Altogether, I have six years of teaching experience at schools in South Africa, Germany and Indonesia (subjects English and German). Before I moved to Bali, I was a grade 4 class teacher at a public primary school near Berlin. There I taught English, German and Maths.
I started teaching “German as a foreign language” last year and most of my students want to improve their communication skills. Grammar is important as well. Last year I taught a student from the States and even though he didn`t like grammar at all, we managed to make it fun and memorable.
We can focus our lessons on speaking, listening, grammar or vocabulary extension - depending on your needs and goals.
Learning a new language is not easy but when you reach a basic level and you can have a short conversation with a native speaker, even though it`s just about the weather, that`s when all the hard work pays off. Once you know the basics it`s more fun to continue.
I would like to help you reach all levels of German, from A1 to C2 and I will assist you in passing the “TESTDAF” if necessary.
Personally, when teaching “German as a foreign language” I do like to use books from “Hueber” publishing company, for example “Schritte plus (A1/1 - B1/2)” . If you prefer other books or materials I`m also happy to use these as a guideline.
